Initiation into Our Mystery

One always learns ones mystery at the price of ones innocence.
Robertson Davies

For eons women have been shamed for our strange, unexplainable intuition, our emotional curves, our heady desires, and our dark sexuality, especially.

Why?...

Because our innate, empathic wisdom and sensuality whisper that we are feral creatures: A wild, unruly, weaker sex who is not 'suited' for a sterile, ordered, civilized society.

It is our untamable wildness; our fluid, creative essence; our unfathomable, murky depths; and all the other unspeakable, hidden aspects within us which cannot be captured, exploited, bought, sold, or controlled that seem a fearful, strong power which man hungers to subdue.

Oh! How he lusts to unearth our knowing, our wonder, our magick ― aspects that reside tangled and deeply rooted within the spiral recesses of our psyche, hidden within our very being. Time has warned that it is our dark yin energies that mankind fears the most.

Wild Women of the Woods by Nikki Simpson

For ages, women have been beaten down, oppressed. Our bodies taken and our voices silenced against our will, in mankind's vain attempt to use, harness, abuse or manipulate the enigmatic, feminine powers we each possess.

Yet, like wild weeds, we persevere.

Even ignorance and death cannot steal from us, nor truly destroy the ancient forests and primordial oceans within all womankind, as we demonstrate over, and over, again. Our mothers and our grandmothers passed the mysteries onto us at birth. Some consciously shared her wise woman ways with holy intent, but all, also, did so unknowingly, through blood, bone, tears, and sweat. History has taught us well. Sadly, our long guarded secrets are far too precious to openly acknowledge, expose or celebrate without fear of consequence. But, times are changing, and now, we are emboldened to be our unmasked, authentic selves. We all long to reclaim what has been lost.... Many have, already, and still, many more shall.

Entering into deeper connection to the wild woman within,
or embracing more of the wild woman archetype, to me —
simply means to unleash, cease restraining, and set free our authentically wild nature.
To allow the most real, honest, and true expression of ourselves as women
to come forth and be seen in the world.
Ali | Wild Woman Speaks

If she did wild or wicked things, it is because she could not help them.
Ernest Hemingway

Woman can never truly be tamed, or fully known....
Truly, we struggle to know ourselves...

We follow the moon hoping to make sense of our blood mysteries. We look to the stars, and the ever changing seasons to discover our sacred path as we move through and with the patterns of our life. We circle and dance, we sit and bleed, we learn and grow, we give and take, we birth and die and are rebirthed unto ourselves countless times.

Mon artifice

Fearlessly, or tentatively, we all chase shadows, seeking the treasure we feel is hiding there, waiting within the unseen places for us to find. Once found, we realize the truth as it is revealed:
What we seek has been woven into the fabric of our body, mind and spirit.

We are the mystery!

All women crave the hidden... we wrap it about ourselves like a blanket, for protection, warmth, and comfort. We are the seed: Infinite potential hidden within itself. [Ironically, we also yearn to be seen and known and loved - all of which require that we open up]. We are seed and gardener, both...

Woman is the sacred chamber. Within us, our own secret garden grows and shelters our soul essence. We require seclusion and privacy to dream, to rest, to root, to open, and to grow wild within our self. We need the deep, rich soil of our own inner knowing to provide a firm foundation for our dream seeds to take root.

Remember:
We are born with all the seeds we will ever need... More! Thus, we are compelled to create, to grow, to regenerate, to blossom and to thrive. Yet, if we are not properly nurtured and cared for, or if something goes awry and we do not receive what we need to be healthy, we become grief stricken and bereft. Unable to grow and thrive, parts of us wither and die.

Part I: Initiation into Our Mystery
Our holy temple, our sacred ground lies within, not without.

 Preparing for Initiation:
  • Look within.
  • Seek the void...
  • Release fear and begin to surrender.
  • Rest in sacred womb space.

For as long as you require, and as deeply as you are able, prepare yourself for initiation into your own mystery. This may include any or all of the following:

  1. Pay attention to your thoughts, your attitudes and intentions, your dreams and goals, your needs and desires. Record those that resonate profoundly or seem important, that are in alignment with your higher self, and that lift your spirits.
  2. Prepare sacred space in your body temple, in your home, in your relationships, in your life. This means: cleanse, clear, adorn, sacrifice, simplify, organize, heal, etc. (Take whatever steps you deem needful to bring your environment into harmony with your own soul essence.)
  3. Practice letting go - of fear; of comfort zones; of unhealthy routines; limiting or stale beliefs; unwelcome emotions; false obligations; self-defeating behaviors; unsatisfying entanglements; deceptive judgment or misconceptions; and anything else you know doesn't belong, fit, or serve.
  4. Surrender to the moment. Rest in the 'here' and 'now'. Breathe. Simply be. Learn to find comfort in the space between the known and unknown. Allow the Divine to hold you. Trust that you are safe, that all is well.

Mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually make preparation to begin your initiation into your own holy mysteries. The time has come.

...sometimes,

you have to be the one that pulls you in like an ocean caught in its own rip -

whisper for you to struggle less against yourself

or you'll drown.

Power and Strength of Femininity

There is a longing in every woman to discover oneself as a Goddess. To feel the strength and power of femininity and understand what kind of power and strength her femininity gives her.
